CAF Champions League`s quarter-final review

CAIRO – 18September 2017: CAF Champions League was back on Saturday September 16 with some wonderful matches between the best eight teams in Africa in 2017.

The first match was between Clube Ferroviário da Beira from Mozambique and USM Alger from Algeria. The match ended with a draw 1-1 in the first leg match at the Estádio do Chiveve in Beira on Saturday.

The guests open their way to the semi-finals by scoring an important away goal in Ferroviario by the Algerian international, Oussama Darfalou. But the hosts had another opinion and they equalized in the 89th minute through Fabrice Kanda.
The return leg will be held at Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 stadium in Algeria on Saturday, September 23.

Al-Ahly hosted Esperance Sportive de Tunis in a North African clash and it was the most important match in Africa this week.

Al Ahly tied with the Tunisian team on Saturday evening at Borg Al Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Egypt with two goals for each team in the CAF African Champions League’s quarter-final.

Al-Ahly midfielder Abdallah el-Saied scored an early goal for Al-Ahly with a penalty kick in the 11th minute. Then Taha Khenissi scored the equalizing goal for Esperance in the 21st minute, and Ghilane Chalali added the second goal in the 47th minute. But Walid Azaro had another opinion and scored the second goal for Al-Ahly in the 67th minute.

The return leg will be held at the Rades Olympic stadium near the Tunisian capital, Tunis on Saturday, September 23.

On Sunday 17 September, Mamelodi Sundowns FC, the defending Champions, from South Africa faced Wydad Casablanca from Morocco at Lucas Moripe stadium in South Africa.

Yannick Zakri's goal was enough to lead Sundowns to a 1-0 victory over Wydad Casablanca, giving them an advantage before of the away leg in Morocco next Saturday, 23 September.

The last match was held at Borg Al Arab stadium in Egypt on Sunday between Al-Ahly Tripoli from Libya and Etoile du Sahel from Tunisia. The match ended with a goalless draw 0-0. The Tunisian side preferred to get back to Tunisia without conceding any goal to make their job easier.

The return leg will be held at the Soussa Olympic stadium, Tunisia on Sunday, September 24.
